China: Cybersecurity, human rights, and sanctions

Chinese state interference in our democracy should be a grave and urgent concern, especially in an election year. You can read here about Chinese cyber-attacks which accessed personal details of millions of voters: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-68652374

Add to that the continued worries which I and other MPs raise about Human Rights - the forced labour and worse endured by the Uyghur community in Xinjiang, for instance - and the UK government response is wholly inadequate.

I can't remember the last time I saw such agreement from all parties that the response was not what was required. The Minister representing the UK government was out of step with pretty much everyone in the chamber who all wanted to see more urgency, more action with sanctions, and far less "calling out" which we can all be pretty confident is no deterrent at all.
