About Kirsten

Kirsten lives in Clarkston with her family. Her two children attend school locally. Her professional background is in Human Resources Management, and prior to entering political life, Kirsten was an HR Director.

Having joined the SNP in summer 2014, Kirsten quickly became involved with her local branch and she was selected to contest the East Renfrewshire seat for the May 2015 General Election, which she subsequently held from 2015 to 2017. During this time Kirsten was SNP Spokesperson for the Armed Forces and Veterans.

Thereafter, Kirsten worked in politics and education, and she was appointed as the first female Business Convener, or Chair, of the SNP in 2018.

Kirsten retook the East Renfrewshire seat for the SNP at the snap General Election in December 2019. Kirsten has served as Deputy Leader of the SNP Westminster Group, as Spokesperson for Northern Ireland and Wales, and is currently the SNP frontbench spokesperson for Women and Equalities.

Outside of politics, Kirsten is happiest spending time with her family, or with her nose in a book.
