Women and Equalities Questions
This Tory UK Government has committed to an Employment Bill at least 20 times, but it’s nowhere to be seen. Meanwhile, labour market inequalities become all the more acute, especially in this cost of living crisis. At Women and Equalities Questions today, I pointed out to the Minister that whilst she could act to fix the sick pay system, introduce a day one right to flexible working, improve parental leave and pay, and strengthen protections against pregnancy and maternity discrimination – her government makes the deliberate choice not to do these things.
As I noted, it is a real contrast to the Scottish Government’s recent ‘building a new Scotland’ paper which sets out how an independent Scotland would deliver fair working practices.
Why does this Tory Government support inequality in the workplace?
