Very glad to spend time with these brilliant #WASPI campaigners at Westminster today.
These 1950s born women, have been hugely disadvantaged by changes made by the UK Government to the State Pension age.
Unfortunately many of these women were not properly informed about changes to pensions dates by the UK Government and therefore had insufficient time to plan for their retirement. I know this impacts many women locally, and I have heard incredibly difficult tales of women whose life plans have been thrown into chaos, left years short of the payments they had been led to expect with no advance warning.
I was pleased to join colleagues in our continued support for these women today. I know the WASPI women won’t go away - and neither will we.
