Visit to community garden in Neilston

Lovely to visit this fantastic space - the beautiful community herbal garden off Kirkstyle Lane, Neilston.

It’s the product of dedication and hard work by a team of great community-minded folk working with Incredible Edible Neilston, who are part of a a network encouraging people to cultivate their produce, and with Movement in Thyme CIC, a not-for-profit social enterprise aiming to create sustainable resilient communities and reduce social isolation.

The garden is absolutely thriving with such a range of plants, and it’s fantastic that there are slate information boards in each planter explaining what the plants are, and what benefits these plants bring. It was also very interesting to hear more about the excess produce being passed to the community apothecary which can be accessed for free.

This is a beautiful space in the village and so useful too. I know that participating in the project has brought significant health and well-being benefits and the sustainability and biodiversity benefits are clear for all to see.

Huge thanks for a fantastic tour round and I wish everyone connected with the project all continued success.
