Deeply disturbing to see further scenes of violence in Israel and Gaza overnight, following the horrific terror attack on Israel by Hamas. I join the international community in condemning Hamas’ actions.
Media reports of innocent civilians being caught up in this are shocking. Particularly concerning for some families in East Renfrewshire, who will be deeply worried for family and friends, the more so as this situation goes on, and for local people who may be there at present.
Those I have been in touch with are safe, but we now need significant international input if there is any hope of de-escalating the situation. That must happen as a matter of urgency.
