Tory Universal Credit Cuts

Shamefully, Scottish Tory MPs abandoned people in Scotland by abstaining on voting against Universal Credit cuts, which will make 400,000 Scottish families poorer, including hundreds of families in East Renfrewshire. I spoke about this earlier to the BBC.

These disgraceful Tory Universal Credit cuts will leave families £1040 a year worse off, and demonstrate beyond doubt that people in Scotland are financially worse off under the Tories.

As a direct result of Tory cuts and tax hikes, the UK now has the worst levels of poverty and inequality in north west Europe - and the highest levels of in-work poverty this century.

The only way to keep Scotland safe from Tory cuts is to become an independent country, with the full powers needed to build a strong, fair and equal recovery.
