Last night at Westminster, the Tory UK Government voted *against* providing free school meals over the holidays to children in need.
Along with my SNP colleagues, I voted for the provision of free meals, which is exactly what the Scottish Government has already pledged to do - committing to extending free school meals over the next school holidays at Christmas, February and Easter.
The comments from the Tory benches last might were particularly shocking. It was suggested that making sure hungry children are fed is "virtue signalling" and the this would mean "nationalising children".
It is notable and regrettable that not a single Scottish Tory voted for the provision of free school meals.
