Stop the Increase of Nuclear Weapons

The UK Government plans to increase the number of nuclear warheads it holds by a staggering 40%. This is of significant concern to many of us, who are firmly opposed to these nuclear weapons, and of particular concern to those living in their shadow. Nuclear weapons are immoral, outrageously expensive, and useless in defence terms against the threats of today or tomorrow.

This increase - the first since the Cold War - is also a flagrant breach of the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty. However, despite experts including those at the LSE, pointing out this breach, the Secretary of State for Defence clearly feels he knows better.

There should be no place for nuclear weapons in Scotland, or anywhere else.
