Glad to join Gavin Newlands MP today standing up for P&O Ferries staff who have been treated so utterly despicably by the company in recent days.
Gavin's Bill to prohibit fire and rehire practices would have been incredibly helpful here, but the UK Government did not agree. An Employment Bill setting out proper protections for workers would also have been most welcome, but despite promises to bring this forward the UK Government has repeatedly failed to do so.
P&O must think again, and the UK Government must step up, to ensure this outrageous situation is reversed.
