Yesterday I submitted this Early Day Motion, calling on the UK Government to act to support self employed and gig economy workers who face particular difficulty. It is vital that this is dealt with, and swiftly.
It is very welcome that Scottish Government Finance Secretary, Kate Forbes MSP had indicated that she is already working on hardship funds in this regard, seeking to maximise reach and ease.
This is in addition to the critically important additional £320 million package of support for business which she has announced today, including action on business rates poundage, rates relief to retail, hospitality and leisure businesses, grants of £3k to small businesses facing worst impacts, and support for pubs.
