It was deeply concerning to hear the plans by Rolls Royce to cut 700 jobs at their Inchinnan site. I know that many East Renfrewshire residents work there.
I attended a zoom meeting earlier today, with other MPs representing areas with constituents in similar positions and Rolls Royce Trade Union officials, whose input and time was very helpful.
It is crucial that we work to protect jobs and production at Inchiannan, and I welcome SNP Transport Spokesperson,Gavin Newlands MP taking this case to Westminster this week. The UK Government need to clarify what support they can offer. I know the Scottish Government remains very keen to engage with Rolls-Royce to see how it can support the operation at Inchinnan. Rolls-Royce must work constructively with the UK and Scottish Governments, and their workforce. Time is of the essence here, and I will continue to press for constructive dialogue and more detail on decision making.
