At Northern Ireland questions earlier, I asked the Secretary of State about issues relating to Brexit, namely the new Customer Declaration IT system being put into place. An HMRC whistleblower has flagged up significant concerns about the ability to have this system in place, and working with other HMRC systems in the timescale needed.
This, just like the UK Government's track and trace app, seems to be an IT system that has not been planned or thought through adequately, and that is not fit for purpose. In this case, the consequences will be lost tax revenue and increased criminal activity.
Another Brexit bonus.
