Glad to support my colleague Stuart McDonald MP, working with the Joint Council on the Welfare of Immigrants, and 39 cross-party MPs, calling the Home Office to rethink their damaging policies.
As things stand, the UK has some scandalous salary requirements before spouses, children and other family members can come to or remain in the UK with a British or settled sponsor. These ridiculous requirements have been made even more difficult by the covid crisis and resulting losses to incomes.
For a period, the Home Office put in place measures to take into account the impact of the pandemic on incomes. However, from an answer to a parliamentary question, that seems set to come to an end at the end of July. This is neither sensible nor fair and we are calling on the Home Office to keep these measures in place
