East Renfrewshire has such strong connections with Malawi.
Barrhead High and Williamwood High have partnerships which have been so influential on students in both places. Local Churches including Busby Parish Church, Giffnock South Parish Church, Greenbank Parish Church and Williamwood Parish Church are part of the Kwenderana Partnership Group, and there are multiple individual connections flourishing between the communities here and in Malawi.
It was therefore a pleasure to meet - virtually - with His Excellency President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi this morning, with fellow members of the All Party Parliamentary group on Malawi, and hear about developments in the economy, sustainability initiatives and education in Malawi, and a very clear commitment to this valuable continued partnership.
