🚴 Many thanks to Eileen Hamill from Cycling UK for hosting an excellent meeting this afternoon focussed on increasing the amount of cycling and active travel in our local area.
🚴 I was very pleased to be part of the conversation, along with colleagues Cllr Annette Ireland and Cllr Caroline Bamforth. There is significant work already going on locally, thanks to the work of volunteers from Sustrans and GoBike, as well by East Renfrewshire Council, Neilston Development Trust, Veloworld and so many more groups.
🚴 The focus many of us have had on active travel and cycling during lockdown has been important for health, mental health and environmental reasons, and we need to build upon this to make more progress on cycling locally.
🚴 It is worth having a look at the plans East Renfrewshire Council has to develop space for walking and cycling, via the Scottish Government funding to enable safer walking, cycling and exercising during Covid. You can read more here:
