Really disappointing that this very sensible motion was not backed by ERC Administration councillors and their supporters.
I have been working hard at Westminster on this issue, and know local SNP councillor colleagues have been doing likewise.
There is no getting away from the environmental damage these disposable vapes cause. Nor should we ignore the grave concerns about their attractiveness to young people who have never smoked in the first place. Statistics on this are deeply worrying.
Experts like ASH Scotland are concerned about disposable vapes - they know we can support smoking cessation effectively whilst still dealing with the harms these disposable products are causing.
I sincerely hope there is a rethink, and that ERC fall into line with other local authorities. Our environment and our young people would greatly benefit.
