I spoke in a debate about the continued detention of Jagtar Singh Johal, a young Scottish Sikh man, who has been imprisoned in India for nearly four years while his family in Scotland worry themselves sick, because of alleged mistreatment, covid, and the terrifing potential for sentences including the death penalty.
Jagtar was snatched from the street in India where he was with his new wife, leaving her bewlidered and terrified.
The UK Government will not say the his detention is arbitrary, so they have no reason to intervene, but the fact speak for thsmsvels, and they really need to step up and advocate for this young man who denes any wrongdoing, and simlly wants to return home to Scotland to live his life.
