Very pleased to have a chance to meet up with Zara Mohammed, General Secretary of the Muslim Council of Britain, and her colleagues earlier today. Zara is a Southsider, and the first Scot and first woman to hold her important role.
It is Islamophobia Awareness Month and regrettably there is clear evidence of increasing levels of islamophobic hatred, which is deeply concerning.
It is important that all of us in public life take seriously our responsibility to speak out against hatred and division.
Particularly important that we do so at what is a very difficult time, and I’m very grateful for a useful conversation today.
