By asking written questions, I have established that the UK Government has made no assessment whatsoever of the impact the withdrawal of the Universal Credit uplift would have on child poverty figures. That is extraordinary.
So, today, I asked the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions about this lack of impact assessment. I asked that she rectify this, because it is very clear to me that the change to Universal Credit, at the same time as the cost of living is rising, will have a significant impact, but we can't quantify that - and deal with it - without such an assessment being undertaken.
She refused. It almost seems as if she does not want to know the damaging impact of her Governments policies on child poverty.
