Glad participate in an event this morning organised by the Food Foundation looking at the importance of fruit and veg availability. Important conversations which would be of interest to our local gardeners, allotment groups, horticultural societies and food larders as well as larger producers.
As well as the supermarket shortages we have see on in some areas, the cost of living is a serious impediment to healthy fruit and veg being accessible to all.
It was interesting to hear the positive comments being made about the approach of the Scottish Government on fruit and veg in schools in contrast to the situation in England. I was glad to raise the additional challenges faced by neurodiverse children and adults who may face additional barriers to eating a varied and healthy quantity of fruit and veg. Helpful to hear that this is an issue which is being more widely discussed and understood.
