These are challenging times for so many people. One of the groups experiencing significant difficulty are those who are on maternity leave and in receipt of Maternity Allowance, whose income may be even more restricted than they might have feared, because of unfair anomalies within the Universal Credit system.
I am pleased to be one of the six cross-party sponsors of this Early Day Motion, recognising this as a significant issue and calling for the system to be changed to resolve this difficulty which pregnant women and new parents can ill afford to deal with, especially just now.
