Eastwood Allotments

A fascinating visit to Eastwood Allotments. Many thanks to Colin, Linda and Duncan for a socially distanced tour. I was amazed by the variety of plants, flowers, fruit and veg being grown. There are glorious flower displays, sensory plant areas, a heritage orchard, greenhouses, seed shares and more. Links have been made with schools and other local groups.

I was very struck by the enthusiasm of the plotholders I spoke to, who emphasised the benefits to physical and mental health of having an allotment, as well as the value in producing sustainable home produced food.

The allotments are very popular and there is a waiting list in operation but they welcome the chance to show people around, and look forward to hosting community open days when this is possible again.
