East Renfrewshire Covid-19 Restrictions

Kirsten

Kirsten Oswald, Member of Parliament for East Renfrewshire has commented on the Scottish Government’s announcement of new restrictions on households in East Renfrewshire and other parts of the West of Scotland.

Along with her fellow MPs and MSPs of all parties from the affected areas, Kirsten received a briefing on the restrictions from John Swinney MSP, Deputy First Minister of Scotland.

Mr Swinney indicated that local restrictions were put in place following an increase in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the City of Glasgow, East Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire.

The restrictions will be reviewed in 7 days.

Kirsten said:“I was sorry to hear of the Scottish Government decision to impose limited restrictions on households in East Renfrewshire and other parts of the West of Scotland.

“I have been contacted by a number of constituents looking for clarification of what the restrictions will mean for them. However, most people have understood the need for the Scottish Government to act if there are signs of the virus returning.

“Having been contacted by a number of constituents about large parties taking place in households over recent weeks, I was not surprised to hear this may be one of the contributory factors in the increased incidence."

“Business owners and people getting work done to their homes have been pleased to hear the restrictions will not disrupt that. They have recognised that this underlines the need for work to take place in accordance with relevant guidance.”
