Kirsten Oswald MP has tabled an Early Day Motion to thank local resident Freya Young for her initiative in creating the Eaglesham
Kirsten Oswald, SNP Member of Parliament for East Renfrewshire, has tabled a motion at Westminster to recognise the community spirit which lay behind the formation of the Eaglesham Street Library by local resident Freya Young.
The Early Day Motion recognises the imagination which of local resident Freya Young in setting up and running the Eaglesham Street Library which enabled local residents in Eaglesham and Waterfoot to borrow books, games, jigsaws and more during the lockdown period. It notes the enthusiasm of the local community which got firmly behind the project, dropping off and borrowing books, DVDs, board games, colouring pencils, jigsaws, calculators and video games, which helped pass the time for children, families and older people in Eaglesham during the lockdown period.
This motion further commends the sense of community support displayed by Freya who also delivered items to those who were shielding, as well as the focus on recycling and sharing.

Local Councillor, Caroline Bamforth added:
“Freya has put in a power of work to help support the Eaglesham and Waterfoot community at a very difficult time. She has made a real difference to many local residents, and I am delighted to see her hard work recognised in this way”
Freya Young was delighted to hear of the EDM, and said:
“I have thoroughly enjoyed setting up and running the Street Library, and I appreciate all the local support I received during this difficult time”
