One of the few silver linings of Covid for me is the ability to attend community meetings online which I would normally have missed because of being in London. Particularly now, with all the challenges Covid presents for our communities, it is vital to be connected as far as possible, so as to understand the issues affecting different areas of East Renfrewshire. I was very glad to join local Councillor, Caroline Bamforth last night at the Eaglesham and Waterfoot Community Council meeting, held online.
This is a busy, energetic and constructive Community Council, focussed on the needs of Waterfoot and Eaglesham, and engaged in all areas of local life. I was glad to join the meeting, and was impressed by their energy. They are always delighted to have local residents join their meetings, and pleased to talk to anyone interested in becoming a member too.
Community Councils play a critical role in representing and advocating for communities, and working with local Councillors like Caroline Bamforth.
If you are involved with a community group or organisation, and it would be helpful for me to attend your online meeting, I will be pleased to try and do so, diary permitting - just let me know.
