I had an opportunity today to ask about the very grave situation in Sudan. I was particularly keen to press the UK government on the situation of constituents who are currently trapped, and who I wish to see returned home safely as soon as possible.
This is clearly a highly dangerous and changeable situation, and I do not underestimate the challenges faced in securing the repatriation of those stuck there.
However, given that we have successfully managed to bring out diplomats, and other countries have managed to bring out their nationals, I would have liked to have heard significantly more from the Minister on both how people can be sustained now - food and water are in short supply - and how and when they will be brought home to safety.
Rest assured I will keep pressing this case.
