Pleased to join with charities and the All Party Parliamentary Group for Water Safety at the launch of a report authored by the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK).
The report provides an important picture of accidental drownings in the UK and uses a range of data sources to demonstrate the reason this is a cause for concern.
Every drowning is a tragedy, and although the report showed a welcome decreasing numbers of drownings, these terrible accidents continue to happen.
We have a number of bodies of water in our local area, and I want to emphasise the need for everyone to take care around water, particularly during the summer months when most fatalities occur.
