Historic day today for Eaglesham, the first conservation village in the UK, and a well loved East Renfrewshire community. Fascinating to know there are now more than 600 conservation areas designated in Scotland.
60 years as a Conservation Village, building upon the fascinating local history, with a planned village built round the Orry.
Very thankful that the threatened demolition of the 1930s did not take place, and that we can all enjoy this lovely local village today. I have laid down an Early Day Motion commemorating the occasion.
